Fender Telecaster refers to producer John Porter's 1954 butterscotch Telecaster. This was used on many Smiths tracks, after Porter felt that Johnny's then-tiny range of guitars reflected an equally small range of sounds. The Telecaster is credited for the jangling, chimey sounds of The Smiths tracks, which erroneously went to Marr's Rickenbacker 360.
